How to Level an RV Parking Driveway

An unlevel driveway can provide storage problems for that "home away from home," otherwise known as an RV. Fortunately, newer model RVs are better suited for parking on unlevel terrain, and many small adjustments can be made with blocks and ramps to help level your trailer.

However, if driveway conditions are too extreme, there are more drastic measures that may be taken such as repaving or professionally grading your driveway, or you may choose to store your RV in a storage facility.

Instructions

    • 1

Look at the positioning of the driveway and the trailer to determine how many tires and/or feet would need to be raised to help balance the trailer.

    • 2
Leveling blocks and ramps come in all shapes and sizes.

Purchase leveling ramps or blocks for all feet and tires that need to be raised. These can be found at camping stores or ordered online. As of 2010, pricing ranges anywhere from $10 to $30 per level. Reduced package pricing often applies.

    • 3

Insert levels as instructed and check for any additional trailer tilt with a standard carpenter's level. Continue to adjust the blocks or ramps until you are satisfied.

Consider comparing estimates from professional driveway paving and/or leveling companies if your driveway conditions are too extreme for comfort. You may also want to research storage facilities in your area where your trailer may be stored, perfectly level, year-round.
