Open the tank panel, which is typically located on the right side at the rear of the RV or trailer.
Look in the back of the tank panel and locate the outflow hose that comes from the toilet. Slide two hose clamps over the hose.
Push the tank into the housing area for the black water tank. (Most RVs and campers have a dedicated area for each tank.)
Pry any cover or cap off the tank's intake nozzle. Grip the end of the hose, and push it firmly onto the intake nozzle on the tank. Slide one hose clamp over the nozzle and tighten it with the screwdriver. Slide the other hose clamp up and onto the area where the hose enters the housing and tighten it with the screwdriver.
Caulk around the ends of the hose at each connection point to provide a watertight seal. Let the caulk dry for approximately eight hours.
Test the system by flushing the toilet using clean water. Listen at the tank to ensure that the water is flowing into the tank. If necessary, shake the tank slightly to feel for sloshing.
Open the tank's outflow nozzle. Place a funnel into the nozzle, and add 1 cup of bleach to the tank, then close the nozzle. This helps prevent odors and decreases bacterial contamination.
