Drive the motor home to a certified dump station at a campground or highway rest stop. Drain and empty the current black water tank. Drive the rig back to your parking lot, set the emergency brake, and disconnect all water and electric connections. Turn the main circuit breaker to off.
Put on the safety gear. Open the black water tank housing door and prop open. Unscrew the hose clamps where the hose meets the tank intake nozzle. Place the adjustable wrench over the hose and pull it off the tank's nozzle. Prepare for waste water stuck in the hose to ooze out.
Fill the bucket with warm water and a half cup of bleach. Sponge down the housing panel and wipe up any waste water that oozed from the hose. Let the area dry. Pull out the old tank and wipe away any debris where that tank rested. Remove the old hose clamp from the hose.
Place the new tank into the housing area. Push a new hose clamp over the hose. Push the nose down onto the tank nozzle, first checking the cap is off the nozzle. Slide the hose clamp over the nozzle and tighten with the screwdriver.
Apply a generous amount of silicone caulk around the tank nozzle and clamp to give it a watertight seal. Let the caulk dry. Turn on the water and give the toilet a practice flush to ensure the water goes into the tank with no leaks around the hose.
