Take the RV to a certified dump station, typically found at campgrounds and highway rest areas. Empty the old black water tank at the dump station and drive the RV to your parking lot where the installation takes place. Set the RV emergency brake, and ensure all water and electric connections are off.
Open the black water tank housing panel -- typically found on the left back side of the rig. Prop the panel door open with the latch. Put on your goggles, gloves and mask.
Unscrew the hose clamps on the old black water tank and push them up from the hose valve on the tank. Use the vise grips or wrench and pull the hose off the old tank. Be prepared for small amounts of waste water to drip out. Pull the old tank out from the housing. Wipe away any excess waste water in the housing.
Put the new black water tank in the housing. Remove the old hose clamp and slide a new one onto the hose. Push the hose down firmly onto the black water tank intake nozzle. Be sure any stopper caps or packaging is off the nozzle prior to putting the hose on. Slide the hose clamp down onto the nozzle and hose, then tighten with the screwdriver.
Apply silicone caulk around the hose-nozzle connection. Go inside the RV and check the hose leading out from the toilet. Look at the edges around the hose-toilet connection for dry rot or cracks in the caulk. If present, add caulk. Let the caulk dry.
