Water Tank Installation Instructions

An RV's fresh water tank houses fresh water for drinking and cleaning. These tanks hold water when the RV is not connected to outside water hookups like those in campgrounds. Install a fresh water tank in your RV to give you flexibility to go into remote areas and still take showers and cook with fresh water.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the RV and set the emergency brake. Turn off the main power circuit breaker. Check all water connections are detached. Open the housing tank panel of your RV. Most RV's house the tanks in the rear left side panel. Check with your user manual if you are unsure of the tank housing area.

    • 2

Open the housing panel and find the hoses leading to the water filter and drains. This is typically a T-shaped device with a large hose coming out from the side. Pull this hose to a convenient location to work with it.

    • 3

Place the fresh water tank into the housing. Most RVs have a dedicated spot for the tanks. Place it into the housing and remove the new tanks caps on the hose intake-outtake nozzles. Push a hose clamp over the water filter hose and push the hose onto the fresh water tank's output nozzle. Slide the hose clamp over hose-nozzle connection and tighten it down with the screwdriver.

    • 4

Slide a hose clamp onto the intake hose leading form the water tank fill-up cap. Thread the intake hose from the housing panel to the intake nozzle on the fresh water tank. Slide the hose clamp onto the hose-nozzle connection and tighten with the screwdriver.

    • 5

Caulk the edges of the hose connections with the silicone caulk to give them watertight seals. Let the caulk dry. Fill the tank with water and turn the power back on. Turn on a faucet to check the connections.
