A diesel pusher RV takes its name from how the engine is placed within the chassis of the RV. A diesel pusher has a rear mounted engine, as opposed to gasoline types which house the engine in the front portion of the chassis.
Diesel pusher RVs can be purchased with either a standard width of 8 feet, or as a wide body, which is 8 feet, 6 inches. This wide body option allows for more interior comfort and movement within the RV.
Safely operating a large vehicle like a diesel pusher requires good driving skills. When looking for an RV to purchase it's wise to consider the driver's experience with wide body vehicles, as the extra width makes driving a bit more difficult for beginners.
