How to Repair a Floor in a Pop-Up Camper

Bringing a pop-up camper with you on a camping trip will give you a nice place to sleep and will keep you out of the rain. Like a home, a pop-up camper can acquire floor damage over time. This damage most often comes from excess moisture being exposed to the wood subfloor. Repairing the floor in a pop-up camper will make the floor stronger and extend the life of your camper. Learning to repair the floor will help you to get started with this project.

Instructions

    • 1

      Locate the damaged area on the floor in the pop-up camper. You may need to remove the dinette from the floor to see the full extent of the damage in the camper.

      Remove the floor covering from the subfloor in the pop-up camper. Use a pry bar, pliers and a hammer to remove old carpeting, tile or other floor coverings. Work carefully so you do not damage the subfloor.

      Remove the damaged area of flooring. Set a circular saw to the depth of the subfloor plywood. Cut out the damaged area of flooring with the circular saw. Pry up the damaged piece of flooring with a pry bar.

      Replace the damaged spot of flooring with a new piece of plywood. Cut the plywood to size with a circular saw or table saw. Screw the plywood piece into place with a screwdriver and screws.

      Cover the subfloor with the desired floor covering. Stick-on tiles are an easy to install flooring option for pop-up campers.
