Move the generator's "Start" switch to the "On" position if you are unable to turn on the generator with the remote switch. If it turns on, you have a faulty remote. If it does not work, clean the battery connections on the vehicle and the generator and tighten the wires to ensure a good connection.
Remove the battery from the vehicle and take it to an auto-parts store or a mechanic for testing if you are still unable to start the generator. If the battery can be recharged, do so and replace it in the vehicle. If it can't be recharged, you will need to purchase a new battery.
Turn on the engine to your RV and leave it running for a few minutes if your generator will turn on for a few moments and then turn off. You might not have enough battery power to keep the generator running, so running the vehicle's engine will use the alternator to recharge the battery enough to get the generator running properly.
Turn the generator off if the items you have connected to it are not operating properly or turn off and on randomly while you use them. Disconnect all items and turn the generator back on. Connect one item, monitor its use for a few minutes, then connect the second item. Continue to connect items until the problem starts again to know the maximum amount of items the generator can power.
