Of these four oceans, the smallest is the Arctic Ocean.
The Arctic Ocean is located in the northernmost part of the world and is mostly surrounded by land. It covers an area of about 14 million square kilometers (5.4 million square miles). The Arctic Ocean is also the shallowest of the four oceans, with an average depth of just 1,200 meters (3,900 feet).
The Arctic Ocean is home to many unique plants and animals, including polar bears, seals, whales, and walruses. The ocean is also covered in sea ice for much of the year.
