Amtrak Service Between Houston and New Orleans? Currently None

Amtrak does not operate a direct Houston–New Orleans route. The Sunset Limited (Los Angeles–New Orleans) terminates at New Orleans; its Texas segment ends at San Antonio. Houston lost rail service in 2005 (Hurricane Katrina damage to tracks east of city).

Alternatives:
• Drive: ~350 mi, 5.5 hr via I-10 E.
• Bus: Greyhound/FlixBus ~6 hr.
• Fly: 1 hr 15 min (IAH/HOU → MSY).
