Grand Canyon Discovery by Rail

• The Grand Canyon is a major highlight on Amtrak's 10-day Grand Canyon Discovery By Rail vacation through the desert landscapes of the Southwest. Departing from Chicago, passengers aboard the Southwest Chief ultimately reach the Grand Canyon's breathtaking South Rim. En route, travelers stop at Santa Fe, where they can spend a day touring its centuries-old Plaza, churches and Indian Market; and Sedona, Arizona to marvel at its stunning red sandstone towers and foothills. The route ends in Flagstaff, Arizona, with the option to continue to Los Angeles, Phoenix or other Western cities.

West Coast Spectacular

• Board Amtrak's Coast Starlight train for a 10-day vacation called the West Coast Spectacular. The trip starts with a day-trip through Seattle that features dinner on top of the city's famous Space Needle. The train winds down the Pacific Coast, through Oregon's old growth forests, scenic shoreline and into Northern California's valleys covered with vineyards and orchards. The trip includes a day-trip to Napa Valley's wine country and a tour of San Francisco that includes Fisherman's Wharf and scenic Nob Hill neighborhood. The train continues down the coast to Los Angeles, culminating in a trip to Universal Studios.

Peaks to Pacific

• Amtrak's California Zephyr travels the Amtrak's Peaks to Pacific route, a 10-day trip that takes passengers from the Rocky Mountains in Denver to San Francisco Bay, with a side trip to Yellowstone Park. Departing from Denver, travelers spend their first day on a tour of Denver and Rocky Mountain National Park. The train heads to Utah, where visitors debark for a guided tour of Salt Lake City, featuring the Brigham Young Historic Park and the Mormon Tabernacle. The next stop is the stunning Yellowstone National Park, for a bus tour through the park's scenic lower loop, with a stop at the famed Old Faithful geyser. The trip ends in San Francisco, with the option to extend the trip to Los Angeles.
