Divide the length of the journey by the average speed you will be traveling in miles per hour (mph).
Take the answer from step 1 and reduce the decimal to two places (if applicable). Determine whether to keep the second numeral the same or round it up by looking at the third numeral. If it is five or higher, round the second numeral up by one. If the third numeral is four or lower, keep the second numeral the same. You now have your trip's time expressed in hours and a fraction of an hour.
Convert the fractional hour into minutes by multiplying it by six and then dividing that total by 10. Add this number of minutes to the whole number from step 1 (the number of hours) to determine the time your journey will take.
