Honda Shadow 600 Motorcycle Specs

The Honda VT600C is a cruiser motorcycle manufactured by Honda from 1988 to 2007. It is also known as the Honda Shadow VLX, and some people refer to it as the Shadow 600. This motorcycle has an American look with Japanese technology. Its specifications changed over time.
  1. 1988 to 1989

    • In 1988, the Honda Shadow VLX came in blue and in red. It was manufactured with a single shock rear suspension and had a 583 cc engine. This older model came with a four-speed transmission and the serial number began with JH2PC210*JM000001. The Shadow 600 1989 model has the "Shadow VLX" logo in script located on the tank. Its serial number started with JH2PC210*KM100001.

    1991 to 2001

    • In 1991, this model was available in black. It came only in red in 1992 and then only in black in 1993. In 1994 and 1995, it was available in black and red. The 1995 model had a re-designed "Shadow" logo on its tank and the serial number started with JH2PC210*SM600001. In 1996 and 1997, it was only available in black. In 2001, it had a liquid-cooled, 583 cc, 52 degree, V-twin, single pin crank engine with a bore and stoke of 75 mm by 66 mm. Its valve train was SOHC, three-valve cylinder with a four speed, wide ratio transmission. The 2001 Honda Shadow also had single shock rear suspension and front suspension of 39 mm fork, 145 mm travel. The height of its seat was 650 mm and its weight was 445 lbs. It had a fuel capacity of 12 liters.

    2003 to 2007

    • The 2003 VT600C came in black with a compression ratio of 9:2-to-1. It had an o-ring sealed chain and a seat height of 650 mm. It weighed 452 lbs. and had a fuel capacity of 11 liters. The 2004 Shadow VLX 600's valve train was SOHC with three valves to each cylinder. Its ignition was CD along with electronic advance and it had two spark plugs to each cylinder. The rear suspension was a single shock that had a seven position, adjustable spring-preload. It came with a 2.9-gallon fuel capacity and a one-year warranty. The 2005 Honda Shadow was similar, however in 2006, it became available in red and silver. In 2007, it was available in white, red, silver, and black and had a single disc front brake with twin-piston caliper and a rear drum brake.
