Having the brakes go out while in motion can be a real safety hazard, so quick repair to the brake system is a must. The best way to repair the brakes on the Honda Ruckus is to tighten the rear brake lines. This is just the process of loosening the back brake line bolt (the one attached to the tire well) and giving the left brake a slight squeeze. Then, after re-tightening the bolt, the brakes will be more responsive. The most common cause of brake failure is a loose brake line bolt, so check it regularly.
Tire repair is especially tricky, since the Honda Ruckus does not come with a spare. It is best to replace a worn or low tread tire right away, before driving. If a flat tire occurs while in motion, a bottle of flat tire pressurized fixer can get you to a safe distance, but you will need to find a way to get a tire. If no jack is available, you can flip the scooter upside down and balance it on the handle bars. After the tire is replaced, normal riding can commence.
The electrical system is a particularly important part of the scooter, as the starter is electric (most scooters are kick started). The easiest way to troubleshoot the electrical system is to replace the battery. The battery is located under the seat, and can be accessed easily by lifting the seat straight up. Other than the battery, the spark plugs can be replaced (they are right next to the battery) simply by grabbing a hold of each one and pulling firmly on them, then slipping the replacement in its place.
