Purchase your refrigerator at any appliance store near the U.S.-Mexico Border. You can do this online, in person, or over the phone. Laredo, Brownsville, and San Diego, have major appliance stores and are near the border.
Drive your truck to the dock. If you don't have a pickup, you can lay the refrigerator down and load it into a van. Tell the dock loaders to secure the refrigerator well. Appliance stores near the Mexican-American border are experienced in securing appliances being exported to Mexico.
Cross the international bridge at the declare lane closest to the Mexican Aduana offices. Signs will be posted for non-declare and declare.
The Mexican Aduana officers will guide you in, and direct you toward the duty tax office.
Show the official your store receipt and your identification. He will calculate the amount of duty tax you have to pay. This is 18% after the deduction of your allotted $100 gift and product amount per person.
Drive into the "Declare Lane" at the next check point. Show your "Tax Paid" receipt and you will be authorized to continue your trip.
Locate your local messenger who travels back and forth to the U.S. bringing products into Mexico. You have to ask the locals to find one.
Go to the messenger's home, or place of business and negotiate the transportation price. This price will include the duty taxes.
Purchase your refrigerator just as you did in Step 1 of the first section. Inform the store that it will be transported to Mexico. Have the store give the messenger a "Bill of Sale."
Tell messenger where he can pick up your refrigerator.
Pick up the refrigerator when the messenger informs you of its arrival.
Locate an international moving company. All major Mexican cities have several.
Follow Step 1 in the first Section when purchasing the refrigerator.
Have the store deliver the refrigerator to the moving company.
The moving company will transport your refrigerator to their nearest warehouse in Mexico. The transportation price will include the duty tax.
