Instructions

    • 1

Choose a smooth, flat area for your first ride. This must be at least 12 feet by 12 feet. Put on your helmet.

    • 2

Adjust the height of the handlebars on your Segway for a safe and comfortable ride. The Segway includes a height adjustment collar. Turn this counterclockwise to loosen it. Tighten it before you ride.

    • 3

Find the steering grip, mode button, key port and display on the handlebars. The display provides important information for safe Segway travel.

    • 4

Put the key into the key port to turn on the Segway. Stand to the side of the Segway and tap and hold the mode button. A green smiling face on the display shows that the Segway is ready to ride.

    • 5

Test the balance mode by moving the handlebars back and forth to see if the wheels respond.

    • 6

Get a friend to stand in front of the Segway and hold the handlebar securely. Step onto the Segway, keeping it level. Stand straight and feel the Segway balance.

    • 7

Keep your arms and legs loose, with knees slightly bent. Your torso must be slight away from the handlebar. Grip the handlebar lightly.

    • 8

Lean forward to move the Segway forward. Lean backward to travel backwards on the Segway. Turn the steering grip to the right or left to turn the Segway while you travel.

    • 9

Shift your weight to the center to stop. Step off the Segway one foot at a time and power off.
