Bar Harbor Maine Camp Grounds

Bar Harbor is located on Mount Desert Island on the southeast coast of Maine. Several campgrounds dot the island. Select your camping spot based on features and availability of campsites. Limited camping is found within Acadia National Park. During the summer the weather varies from cold and wet to warm and sunny. Pack rain and cool weather clothing so you can camp comfortably. Bring a rain fly if you are camping in a tent.
  1. Acadia National Park: Blackwoods Campground, Seawall Campground

    • Enjoy climbing on oceanside rock cliffs or picking wild blueberries on the mountainside while visiting Acadia.

The park has two large campgrounds each within a ten minute walk of the ocean. Both campgrounds offer water, toilets, shady campsites and parking spots, but no utility hook ups nor showers. Since Acadia is one of the main reasons to visit Bar Harbor, camping for a few nights within the park boundaries is optimal so you can attend Ranger evening programs, view the sunrise from a nearby mountain peak or hike the trails and carriage roads in search of wild blueberries during July and August. Forty-five miles of carriage roads are open for non-vehicular uses such as hiking, walking, biking, jogging and horseback riding. In the winter, cross country ski on the carriage roads. Blackwoods Campground remains open during the fall and winter seasons.
