The distance between NYC and Bar Harbor, Maine is about 500 miles and, by bus, takes approximately 16 to 17 hours including the shuttle from Bar Harbor to Bangor, where the Greyhound bus leaves for NYC.
As of November 2010, Greyhound offers daily weekday departures between Bangor and New York's Penn Station. During May to October, the Bar Harbor-Bangor Shuttle provides door to door bus service between Bar Harbor and Bangor. Advanced reservations are required.
