The Dead Sea, located in Israel, lies 1,312 feet below sea level, making it the lowest point on earth. The Dead Sea has such a high salt content that it contains no life forms, which is why it is named the Dead Sea. A number of hostels operate in close proximity to this unique body of water.

    • The Massada Youth Hostel & Guest House is located at the foot of the Massada and features views of the Dead Sea. This hostel has 88 rooms, each with air conditioning, bathroom, shower, television and mini-bar. It serves breakfast in an on-site dining room that can seat 300. Lunch and dinner meals are available on request. Groups can take advantage of the four classrooms and lecture hall. As an added amenity, the guest house has a private outdoor swimming pool.

    • Ein Gedi Youth Hostel & Guest House offers 68 rooms with direct views of the Dead Sea and the Yehuda Desert cliffs. Each room has an air conditioning unit, shower, bathroom, television and coffeemaker. Some rooms also include mini-bars and balconies. Included in the price of the room is breakfast, which is served in a dining room that can seat 240. Additional meals can be requested in advance. All meals are kosher. This hostel also features three lecture halls with audiovisual equipment.

    Shkedi's Camplodge

    • Shkedi's Camplodge, just south of the Dead Sea, features private cabins and dorm-style bungalows. This hostel has Wi-Fi, hot showers, bathrooms, kitchens, refrigerators, barbecue grills and seating areas. Shkedi's Camplodge is just a short walk from the local village, which has two small restaurants.

      In addition to providing overnight accommodations, this camp also has jeep rides that will take you on a Dead Sea tour. Guest can wind down with a beer at the on-site desert bar. This hostel is open annually from September through June. Group accommodations are available with advance notice.
