Poynette is a small town with a population of around 2,440 in 2010, located 25 miles north of Madison. A bay window sitting area in this room overlooks the acre of land that Jamieson House sits upon. Nearby attractions include the Wollersheim winery and the Devil's lake state park, which is an excellent hiking territory. Here, hiking trails lead to rock cliffs which overlook a lake and provide a wonderful viewpoint from which eagles can be seen soaring. Owners Ned and Kathleen O'Reilly run the friendly Jamieson House, which welcomes couples, singles and families.

    House of Angels

    • Just a short walk away from Lake Wisconsin, the House of Angels sits in a quiet cul de sac location and offers extensive gardens. As the name suggests, this hotel is adorned with angels, both inside and out. The peaceful and attractive surroundings of the House of Angels are perfect for bird-watching and walking or biking around the lake. For wildlife enthusiasts, the nearby MacKenzie Environmental Centre offers guided tours. Inside, the House of Angels features a natural wood-burning fireplace, an enclosed hot tub, a wet bar, books, movies and gym equipment.

    Prairie Splendor Farm

    • Located on the outskirts of Poynette, Prairie Splendor Farm offers retro accommodation in a 1950s-themed house, built in 1892, which is set on a working dairy farm. The hotel became a temporary film set when scenes from the indie film, "The Mourning Hour," were shot here in February 2011. Of the five bedrooms, four are themed and feature memorabilia celebrating 1950s movie stars and cinema, greatest love stories, fashion and music and vintage cars and tractors. Old movies, 1950s books and newspapers and rock-n-roll music are accessible to guests. There is also a relaxing, nostalgic, 1950s-themed family room.
