Boutique Hotels in Lander, Wyoming

Lander, Wyoming, was a stop on the trail for many groups that headed West during the 19th century. Today, it remains a stopping point for adventure travelers who visit the area to hike the Wind Mountains or camp in the area's national parks and forests. Lander has plenty of chain hotels, but the city also offers travelers some unique accommodations that reflect the area's frontier heritage.
  1. The Bunk House

    • The Bunk House, a log cabin guest house, comes with a view of a llama corral. The owners of the Lander Llama Company, a tour-guide business that runs overnight llama-pack trips, built the Bunk House to accommodate guests who visit Lander to hike with the llamas. The Bunk House sleeps up to five people in a queen-sized bed and a loft with three single beds. The cabin is equipped with a kitchenette and outdoor grill and guests can buy food and other supplies at nearby stores. The Bunk House is available for nightly and weekly rentals.

    Louis Lake Lodge

    • Louis Lake Lodge caters to families looking for outdoor adventure. The lodge, set on Lake Louis in the Shoshone National Forest just outside of Lander, rents horses by the hour, half-day and day for visitors who want to ride the forest trails. It also rents kayaks and canoes for guests who want to fish or just explore the lake. Guests can stay in one of eight rustic cabins, many of which share a common bathhouse. They can also opt for one of the three rooms in the lodge that all have private baths. However, no matter where they stay, there is no electricity on the lake and the lodge management suggests all guests pack a flashlight.

    Outlaw Cabins

    • Visitors to Lander can also rent a family-style cabin at Outlaw Cabins. Located on a working cattle ranch, Outlaw Cabins rents two rustic-style cabins with log exteriors and completely modern interiors. Both cabins come with queen-size beds and lofts with two single beds and both are equipped with kitchenettes.The cabins are located about 10 minutes from the center of Lander, where visitors can find local attractions such as the Lander Children's Museum and the Cowboy Museum. Lander has a variety of shops and restaurants, including several fast food chains, and guests can also buy groceries to prepare meals on their own.

    Cottage House of Squaw Creek

    • Squaw Creek Ranch, a miniature horse ranch located a few miles from the center of Lander, rents a guest cottage that accommodates up to six people. The decor is rustic Wyoming, but all modern conveniences, including Wi-Fi, are available.The cottage kitchenette is stocked with teas, spices and other cooking essentials and guests are welcome to help themselves to vegetables from the garden.Squaw Creek Ranch also operates House of Tails, a boarding and grooming service for traveling pets who may not be up for overnight camping trips in the mountains.
