Kalka is a town in the Panchkula district of Haryana state, India. With a population of about 31,000 in 2011, Kalka is the largest town in the district and is the terminus of the famous Kalka-Shimla railway, which was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008. Due to the remote location of Kalka in the foothills of the Himalayas, there are a limited number of hotels in the town itself.
