King Cove, Alaska is a small fishing community located on the Alaskan Peninsula and is part of the Aleutians East Borough. Transportation to King Cove is difficult. Flights from Alaska's main cities must first pass through the nearby community of Cold Bay. From there, a bush plane will conclude the trip to King Cove's airport which is located five miles from town. In town, lodging is limited with one hotel and just a couple bed and breakfasts.
Fleet's Inn is the only hotel/motel in King Cove. It is part of a two-story building that also contains the King Cove city offices, a tribal office, a restaurant and bar.
The other travel accommodation options in King Cove are of the Bed and Breakfast variety. The Marantha Bed and Breakfast is an apartment building owned by Harriet Babcock. She rents the apartments for $100 a night when there is not a permanent tennent. The Salmonberry Bed and Breakfast is located one block from the town store, post office, clinic and restaurant. It is owned by Marty and and Grant Newton. Their establishment offers free Wi-Fi, Dish Network television, and airport transportation for $110 per night. There is also the Mossberry Bed and Breakfast and the King Cove Bed and Breakfast to be found in this town.
Cold Bay also has some accommodations for those on the way to King Cove. The Cold Bay Lodge is a full service facility that will pick up lodgers from the airport. It serves three meals a day and can accomodate short or long term visitors. The Izembek Lodge is an Alaskan owned lodge located next to the Izembek National Wildlife Preserve, where hunting, fishing, and siteseeing excursions are available. Other options when visiting the Aleutians East Borough include the Bearfoot Inn Alaska and Bayview Lodging.
The Aleutians East Borough has one other area where accommodations are possible. Sand Point, Alaska is home to the Anchor Inn and Hodges Bead and Breakfast.
