Lopez Island, known as the "Jewel of the San Juan Islands," is the first stop on the Washington State Ferries run of the San Juan Islands. Known for a local custom of waving to everyone you see and its bike-friendly roads, Lopez Island also has several boutique hotels available for guests to the island.
Edenwild Inn features six large guest rooms, many with views of the ocean or garden. Stays at the bed and breakfast start with a morning European-style breakfast and continue with relaxing on the porch, booking a kayak tour (the proprietors of the inn can make arrangements with the kayak tour service across the street), or biking and exploring the island. Each room is luxuriously decorated with its own unique feel.
Located directly across from the Lopez Island Vineyards, Lopez Farm Cottages offers both cottages for rent and campgrounds in a serene, rustic setting, surrounded by woodlands, meadows and orchards. Despite the secluded setting, the cottages are only a mile from the city center. Each cottage features a fireplace, living area, bedrooms, and a jacuzzi and barbecue grill outside. Breakfast is delivered in a basket to each cabin at night.
Built in 1904 as the first island home to have electric lights, MacKaye Harbor Inn features five guest rooms with water or garden views. Rooms are decorated in antique furniture and feature private bathrooms. Some rooms also have private balconies and patios. Full breakfast is served each morning, and tea, coffee, and chocolates are served each night. Besides the sandy beach outside, the inn also offers kayak rentals and complimentary bikes.
Located on Fisherman's Bay, the Lopez Islander Bay Resort is ideal for guests to the island looking for more of a fun, partying atmosphere than the quiet bed and breakfasts. Featuring a marina with available boat slips, a large outdoor pool and jacuzzi, a tiki lounge, seafood restaurant (featuring breakfast anytime), espresso bar, and volleyball court, the resort offers a full experience in and of itself. Every room has a deck overlooking the bay and as well as small or large kitchens and private baths.
