Niwot, Colorado, is a small town between Boulder and Longmont on Highway 119. The town was named by 19th century gold rushers after Chief Niwot of the local Arapaho tribe. Niwot continues to maintain parts of the Native American tradition through artistry and festivals, such as Nostalgia Day. Victorian houses and gourmet restaurants, like The Royal Bengal Kitchen, line sections of the main roads. The community annually hosts the Chili Cook-off and the Lobster Bash. While few accommodations can be found in Niwot, options in Boulder and Longmont are a few miles away.
