Riverhurst is a small village in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan. The village's name combines the names of two former post offices located in the area, Riverside and Boldenhurst. The 2001 estimated population of Riverhurst was 143. With Lake Diefenbaker only about a five-minute drive away, Riverhurst is often chosen as a vacation spot for families and couples. There are several hotels from which to choose, both in Riverhurst itself as well as in the surrounding area.
Completed in 1980, the Riverside Inn is located on the main street of Riverhurst, right across from Kitely Park and playground. Lake Diefenbaker, Palliser Regional Park and the Riverhurst ferry are all only a five-minute drive from the hotel. The Riverside Inn's namesake restaurant, located on the property, offers take-out fried chicken, a Sunday buffet and homemade pizza. An annual fundraiser and crib tournament are also hosted on the premises. Guests are also a short drive to the lake where they can enjoy fishing, water-skiing and a public beach.
The Mainstay Inn is situated within the larger resort complex of Palliser Regional Park, right on Lake Diefenbaker. Guests at the Mainstay Inn take advantage not only of the recreational opportunities of Palliser Regional Park, but also have access to an outdoor deck and fire pits. The hotel's Rec Room consists of pool and ping pong tables, foosball, a big screen TV and a lounging area. The Mainstay Inn also offers an outdoor pool and a Sunday buffet.
The Lakeview Lodge Motel is located in the town of Elbow, about a 20-minute drive from Riverhurst, also on Lake Diefenbaker, meaning guests can still enjoy waterfront recreation. The Elbow Museum and Historical Society, Harbor Golf Club & Resort and Harbor Lights Mini Golf are all within walking distance. Nearby eateries include the Boathouse Restaurant, Back Home Bakery & Deli and Chinook Winds and Boathouse Restaurant.
Around a 20-minute drive from Riverhurst, 12 miles from the Riverhusrt ferry, is the Demaine Hotel in Demaine. The Demaine Hotel has the only family dining in the area, and brags of having "the best steaks in the West." Guests at the Demaine Inn can drive six miles to Beechy for gas and groceries. The hotel offers a dinner every year on New Year's Eve and Valentine's Day and participates in Telemiracle fundraisers every year. Dances and parties are held on St. Patrick's Day, Labor Day weekend, Halloween and Christmas.
