Valley Head is a small town in northeastern Alabama that has a population of approximately 600 people. Two main points of interest near Valley Head are the Sequoyah Caverns and the Ellis Homestead, where visitors can spend the day exploring the caverns, wandering through the 19th Century homestead or panning for precious gems.
Being modest in size, Valley Head has no hotels. However, there are several hotels in nearby Mentone, which is approximately three miles from Valley Head, and Fort Payne, which is about 15 miles away.
Built in 1884, the historic Mentone Springs Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Alabama. This stately, Victorian accommodation sits on Lookout Mountain, providing inspiring views of the surrounding countryside. In addition, the inn has a pavilion in the garden for relaxing or playing a game of darts, as well as a porch, complete with rocking chairs. All 12 rooms have rustic furnishings and décor and feature private baths with claw-foot tubs and showers. The Mentone Inn also caters to wedding receptions, parties, groups and workshops.
The Hampton Inn in Fort Payne offers 56 rooms, and guests can choose either non-smoking or smoking rooms; wheelchair-accessible rooms are also available.
