Ian Schrager is an American real estate developer and hotelier who first become known as one of the co-owners/founders of famous New York club Studio 54. He is often credited as one of the creators of the boutique hotel genre, or hotels with intimate and luxurious settings that often feature different themes for each room. The Hudson and Paramount hotels were among his first successes while the Granmercy Hotel is one of Schrager's newer creations.
The Granmercy Park Hotel is a luxury hotel featuring 185 guest rooms, six suites and one penthouse in Manhattan. Each room has its "own unique layout" featuring a Renaissance color palette influenced by Italian Renaissance painter Raphael that is filled with interesting objects and art. Room features include imported hand tufted rugs, red velvet drapery on custom bronze rods, mahogany window enclosures and wooden blinds. The hotel's restaurant is Maialino, a Roman-style trattoria that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Rose Bar and Jade Bar are the two bars on premise that often features live performances from "arena worthy" bands and singers. Additional amenities include the Aerospace gym and spa and the Private Roof Club and Garden, an indoor and outdoor space for intimate dinners and the like.
