Opava, Czeck Republic Hotels

Opava, a town and district in the northeast of the Czech Republic, has a history dating back nearly 800 years. Opava's population is about 64,000, and the town is mainly industrial. Still, Opava features classical Czech architecture and has its fair share of breathtaking views, including a handful of nationally protected historic sites. There are only a few hotels in the town, but a surprising range of options.

  1. Hotel Opava

    • The Hotel Opava was built in 2003 and offers modern accommodations throughout its 22 rooms. Most of its rooms are double bedrooms, but two are deluxe suites. The Hotel Opava has two restaurants. Room rates include a voucher for a selection of activities, including tennis or badminton, an hour at a wellness center, access to a sauna and whirlpool or bowling. Double rooms are available for 77 Euros per night, about $100 U.S., as of January 2011. Discount rates are available for groups.

    Hotel Koruna

    • Located in the heart of Opava's downtown, the Hotel Koruna stands out from its surroundings, a formidable brown brick structure. Hotel Koruna has 40 rooms in three categories (standard, business and deluxe rooms) and all room rates include a free buffet breakfast. Rooms also come standard with a full bathtub, a color TV with satellite programming and a telephone. Free parking is available. Prices on the hotel's website are listed in Czech Koruna and range from 1,090 to 2,490, approximately $60 to $140 U.S., per night, as of January 2011.

    Hotel Belaria

    • The Hotel Belaria is a few miles outside of Opava in a small town called Hradec nad Moravicí. It is a large hotel in calm surroundings, with good views from most of its suites and double rooms. Its 57 rooms all include color TV and newly renovated bathrooms. There is no Wi-Fi in the hotel, but a common computer is available to guests in the lobby. The Hotel Belaria has an outdoor saltwater swimming pool and an indoor pool and sauna. Rooms range from approximately $60 to $100 U.S., as of January 2011.

    Pension Koruna

    • Located only a few dozen yards from the Hotel Koruna, the Pension Koruna offers a unique boarding experience in Opava. All of the rooms at the Pension Koruna are apartment-style, and the hotel specializes in long-term rentals. Each room has a small kitchen with a stove top and refrigerator. There are studio apartments or two-bedroom apartments available from about $50 U.S. per night. Month-long rentals offer greater savings: a two-bedroom apartment rents for about $600 U.S. per month, as of January 2011.
