Hotels Near Wolf Point, MT

Wolf Point is located in northeastern Montana and is the largest city in Roosevelt County. A former fur-trading post that dates back to 1842, it quickly expanded because of both railroad and river steamboat transportation. Today it serves as the county seat and is on the main line of the Burlington Northern Railroad and Amtrak. Several hotels located in and around Wolf Point offer accommodations with modern amenities that can serve as a convenient base to explore the area.

  1. Homestead Inn

    • The Homestead Inn is located in the center of Wolf Point on U.S. 2 next to the Wolf Point Museum. It offers 46 pet-friendly guest rooms with single and double queen beds and modern amenities such as microwaves and refrigerators. Smoking and nonsmoking rooms are available, and guests receive a complimentary continental breakfast and have access to the fitness center with sauna and hot tub.

      There are seven nearby dining options located on U.S. 2 that range from steak at the Cattlemen’s Cut to sandwiches at the Git ‘n Go Deli. Attractions away from the hotel include the Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame (one block east), Roosevelt County Museum (one block west) and the Missouri River (a half-mile south). For day trips outside Wolf Point, there is the Assinoboine-Sioux Native American Museum (20 miles east) and the John Deere Tractor Museum (10 miles north). The hotel provides complimentary transportation to and from the airport as well as the Amtrak station. Its parking lot can accommodate vehicles of all sizes and also provides electric plug-ins for cold-weather starting.

    Jolly Swagman Inn

    • The Jolly Swagman Inn is located east of Wolf Point on U.S. 2 in the town of Poplar. Built in the 1940s, it offers a variety of rooms for short- and long-term stays that range from a single room with full-size bed to a double-plus-single room that sleeps up to seven guests. The guest rooms are nonsmoking and pet-friendly, and include amenities such as flat-screen televisions and mini-refrigerators. Guests have complimentary gym access to the Daya Tibi Wellness Center, which is two doors from the inn.

      A choice of six nearby restaurants include fast-food choices such as Frostees as well as roast chicken and pork chops at Bob’s Market. Attractions near the inn include the Poplar Museum, with original buildings from the Fort Peck Reservation, and the ferryboat port, which carries passengers across the Missouri River. Other activities include playing tennis at the public tennis courts and swimming at the nearby public pool.

    Fort Peck Hotel

    • The Fort Peck Hotel is located west of Wolf Point, approximately 10 minutes south of U.S. 2. Built in the 1930s, the historic hotel is open seasonally from April through December and offers pet-friendly, single- and double-bed guest rooms with special amenities such as high-speed Internet access and claw-foot bathtubs. Guests receive complimentary breakfast and have access to the Fort Peck Dining Room, which offers fine dining and cocktails as well as private meeting rooms for private and business functions.

      The hotel is surrounded by the Charles M. Russell Wildlife Preserve and Fort Peck Lake, with activities such as birdwatching as well as boating and fishing. Boats are available for rental at the marina, but fishing is also allowed off the face of the dam. During the summers, three theater productions are offered at the Fort Peck summer theater, a theater built in 1934 that was restored to its original design.
