Palm Island is a seven-mile-long stretch of land in the Gulf of Mexico located off the southwest coast of Florida. The island is reachable only by ferry or boat, and the island's primary modes of transportation are walking, golf carts and bicycles. The island is a quiet sanctuary of ocean beaches and sandy coastline and prides itself on conserving its natural environment, including animal habitat, preserving natural beach and forest areas and supporting the Florida Audubon Society.

    • This resort lies along two miles of private beach on the Gulf of Mexico and has 160 private villas for guest use. Villas are one, two or three bedrooms, and all have fully-equipped kitchens, washing machines and dryers, cable TV and DVD players. Resort guests have the option of biking, canoeing, kayaking, snorkeling and playing tennis on one of the 11 tennis courts. Golfing and boating can be found on the island as well. The resort's fitness center has three treadmills, an elliptical, recumbent and stationary bikes and dumbbells for use by guests. The resort has four outdoor pools open year-round.

Guests have the option of scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and surfing. Other activities that travelers enjoy are shopping at the local boutiques, eating at nearby restaurants and taking boat, bicycling or walking tours of Key West. Less energetic activities include board games, borrowing a book from the resort's library or sunbathing on the private beach.

    • Located in Little Torch Keys, Florida, this resort is the closest mainland hotel to Palm Island. This resort features one-, two- and three-bedroom accommodations with fully-equipped kitchens, air conditioning, cable TV and private porches or decks. For guest use, there is one pool, a boat dockage area, tropical gardens, scuba diving, snorkeling and deep sea fishing. For the tourists who want a more relaxing experience, the resort has a tiki hut bar, several hammocks, a barbecue pit and an outdoor fire pit to relax by. The Parmer's Resort is near the Key Deer National Wildlife Refuge and the Great Heron National Refuge. The resort is also close to the ferry that takes car travelers to Palm Island.
