Priceline.com is a website that allows you to pick the price you want to pay for hotels in a specified area. With this Name Your Own Price service, you can select the minimum star level and exact neighborhood you want to stay in. After entering your price, Priceline will search for a hotel that matches your search criteria. If a hotel is found, Priceline will bill your credit card, instantly book the hotel and give you the exact details of the reservation.
Open a web browser on your computer and go to Priceline's Name Your Own Price web page (see resources).
Enter the "Destination" in the appropriate field and select your check-in and check-out dates using the drop-down menus. Click the green "Get Started" button.
Select the neighborhoods you are willing to stay in. Click the "Detail Map" link to the right of the neighborhood's name for detailed location information about the neighborhood. You can select one or multiple neighborhoods. A broader search increases the likelihood Priceline will accept your price.
Select the minimum star level you are willing to accept. Priceline may assign you a hotel in a higher star category, but will not select a lower category hotel.
Enter the price you will pay in the orange "Name Your Own Price" box. To the right of the Name Your Own Price box, Priceline provides the median retail price for hotels that match your search query.
Enter your Full name in the "Reservation Name" text box. Click the green "Next" button.
Confirm the details of your desired reservation. Initial your acceptance in the "Initial Here" box. Once Priceline confirms your reservation, you can not make any changes to the reservations. Click the yellow "Next" button.
Enter your billing and credit card information and click the yellow "Buy My Hotel Room Now." Priceline will search and attempt to find a hotel that matches your criteria. If a hotel is found, Priceline instantly books the reservation, bills your credit card and emails you a confirmation with details about the hotel. If a hotel is not found, Priceline will notify you, and you will have the opportunity to bid again.
