How to Use Priceline & Name Your Own Price

Priceline is a travel search engine that offers two ways to save on travel expenses. The "Best Price Guarantee" dictates that Priceline will refund the difference -- and offer a $50 credit toward the next trip -- if a customer finds the same itinerary at a lower price within 24 hours of booking. For customers with flexible schedules, the "Name Your Own Price" feature saves even more. If the timing of the flight does not matter, and you are willing to fly on any major airline, stay at any name-brand hotel and rent from one of the top five U.S. rental car companies, you should consider the "Name Your Own Price" feature.

Name Your Own Price

  Open a browser window and go to the Priceline website.

  Scroll down to the "Name Your Own Price" box and click on "Bid Now" under flights, hotels or cars.

  Enter the departure and arrival airports, travel dates and the number of passengers to book flights; the city, travel dates and number of rooms to book a hotel; or the pick-up and drop-off city or airport, car type and travel dates for a rental car.

  Click "Bid Now."

  Enter a bid in the "Name Your Own Price" text box and fill in passenger information for flights. Choose a neighborhood and star rating for hotels and then enter your bid. For car rentals, verify the car type, pick-up and drop-off locations, and enter the flight and driver information before bidding.

  Click "Next."

  Accept or decline travel insurance.

  Read the summary of charges, important information, terms and conditions and the privacy policy.

  Enter your initials to signify that you've read, accepted and agreed to the conditions and policies set forth therein.

  Enter your credit card billing address and information.
