Hotels Near Mulu, Borneo, Asia

Mount Mulu is the second highest mountain in the Malaysian state of Sarawek on the island of Borneo. The rain forest surrounding Mount Mulu is a national park administered by the Malaysian government. Hotel options in Mulu are limited, but guests can opt to stay in rooms located within the national park's headquarters.

  1. Mulu National Park Headquarters

    • Visitors to the Mulu National Park can arrange to stay within the national park's headquarters. Guests enjoy verandas overlooking the rain forest, and outdoor activities include swimming in the local Melinau River. The park's headquarters accommodates up to 80 visitors per night, so guests wishing to enjoy the opportunity to stay at an accommodation within a rain forest should book early. Deluxe rooms have air conditioning, but standard rooms are equipped only with ceiling fans. The accommodation's fee includes free entry into the national park for one day, but subsequent trips into the park after the first day require the additional purchase of a day pass. The amenities include a small cafe, housekeeping and 24-hour security. Guests electing to stay within the park's headquarters will not have access to on-site laundry facilities, but they can make arrangements for cleaning with housekeeping. Guests are not allowed to cook in their rooms.

    Royal Mulu Resort

    • Guests who want a more traditional hotel located near the Mulu National Park can stay at the Royal Mulu Resort. This resort hotel, built on the edge of the rain forest, is a 5-minute drive to the park's entrance. Nearly 200 rooms offer a wide range of amenities. This family-friendly hotel provides babysitting services and high chairs upon request. The resort also houses a gift shop, laundry room, a bar, a lounge, a spa and a foreign currency exchange office. A modern water treatment plant ensures the supply of clean water to all the guest rooms, and the resort's staff are trained in first aid. The Wildflower Restaurant at the hotel offers a mix of Chinese, Western and local cuisine and includes a children's menu.

    Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort

    • The Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort is composed of 18 wooden chalets and an additional traditional 30 guest rooms in the main hotel building. Each chalet has its own distinct atmosphere; for example, the Kapur Chalet is perched high on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding landscape, while the Belian Spa Chalet features a private whirlpool bath. Each guest room includes a terrace large enough for outdoor dining. Guests can request a view of the nearby lake or the surrounding forest, and some of the family rooms include small kitchenettes. The Borneo Tropical Rainforest Resort is located in the town of Miri, a short drive to the Mulu National Park.
