Hotels in Borovets, Bulgaria

Borovets is the oldest winter resort in Bulgaria and is spread out over a large area on the eastern side of Rila Mountain. It is located about 45 miles from Sophia, the capital and largest city in Bulgaria, and is settled at the foot of Mussala peak, which is about 9,600 feet above sea level. Numerous hiking and rock climbing trails are available on Rila Mountain, and multiple hotels are located within the Borovets resort.

  1. Breza Hotel

    • The Breza Hotel is located in the center of Borovets ski resort not far from the main lifts transporting skiers up the mountain. The hotel has 28 rooms, most of which are set up to accommodate single guests. All rooms have satellite television, a mini bar, private bathroom and a balcony overlooking the scenic, snow-covered mountain. Hotel amenities include laundry and dry-cleaning services, an on-site restaurant and a bar and lounge in the lobby. Skiers can rent skis and sign up for ski classes through the Breza hotel as well. Rooms start at $31 per night, as of 2010.

    Borovets Hills Hotel

    • The Borovets Hills hotel features 65 large rooms and nine suites with in-room fireplaces. Rooms have mini-bars, safes, satellite television, free Internet connection and large bathrooms. Complimentary breakfast is offered to guests along with a pool, steam bath, jacuzzi and fitness center. A spa is located within the hotel; it offers treatments such as Turkish hammam, Swedish sauna and aromatherapy. The Yastrebets slopes on Borovets are only a two-minute walk from the hotel lobby. Two restaurants, the Borovets Hills and Chanove, are located on site and feature Balkan food prepared in front of guests in-wood burning stove ovens. Rooms start at $97 per night, as of 2010.

    The Lodge Hotel

    • The Lodge Hotel is a boutique hotel that is part of the Lodge Collection. It has an on-site ski school, spa, fitness center and indoor pool. The ski school features professional ski and snow board instructors, equipment rentals, family classes and night-time skiing. An on-site restaurant features organic dishes and international cuisine as well as a selection of Bulgarian wines and a chef with international experience. The hotel’s spa includes a jacuzzi, sauna, steam bath and treatments including reflexology and neuromuscular therapy. Depending on the season, the hotel facilitates guests’ participation in mountain hiking and biking, horseback riding, tennis, fishing and rafting. Rooms start at about $60 per night, as of 2010.
