Merritt is in the heart of the British Columbia's Nicola Valley, approximately three hours northeast of Vancouver, and it offers access to mountain biking and hiking trails at Douglas Lake Ranch. This town was founded by ranchers in the 19th century and features western-style clothing stores and country music festivals, including the annual Merritt Mountain Music Festival.
