Avondale is a small city in Maricopa County, just west of Phoenix, Arizona. It had a population of about 84,000 as of 2009. Hiking, biking and exploring the desert and ghost towns are just some of the attractions in the vicinity of Avondale. The city is also home to Phoenix International Raceway (PIR).
