Morningside is a quiet suburban neighborhood in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal, in South Africa. The area is known for its diverse architecture, large parks and cosmopolitan streets filled with upscale shops and restaurants. It is bordered on one side by the Umgeni River, and the other a waterfront neighborhood--one of the most popular in Durban. Visitors to the area have a number of hotels from which to choose.
The Emakhosini Boutique is a four-star hotel located in the Morningside neighborhood near many area attractions; the hotel also offers a conference center. The building once housed the French consulate, and because of this the architecture and interior design is a blend of traditional Zulu and French Colonial. Rooms offer cable television, phones, Internet, tea and coffee, room service and turn-down service. In and around the hotel are a swimming pool, courtyards, lounge, cocktail bar and decks. There are two on-site restaurants, the Emakhosini Restaurant, and The Cellar, which seats a maximum of 20 people. As of September 2010, rates begin at around $200 per night.
