Searchlight, Nevada, is a small town with a population under 1,000 located about 50 miles south of Las Vegas and the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and about 15 miles east of the California border and the eastern edge of the Mojave National Preserve. Hotel Nipton, about 21 miles from Searchlight, was originally built in the Spanish Territorial style in the first decade of the 1900s, and was restored in 1986 and refurbished in 2004. It operates as a bed-and-breakfast just across the California border from Nevada. The adobe hotel has a covered wraparound porch, outdoor hot tubs, picnic area and reflection pond. It has five rooms available to rent. Bathrooms are shared between guests.
