Shaunavon is a town situated in the picturesque southwest of the Canadian state of Saskatchewan (SK), populated by over 2,000 citizens. The state of Saskatchewan is situated in the center of Canada, and shares its southern border with Montana and North Dakota. Shaunavon is predominantly a farming community but also has a busy, working oil industry. The Grand Coteau Heritage and Cultural Center hosts an art gallery, library and museum, which make up the primary tourist attractions of Shaunavon. Five hotels and motels are located in the town center. They offer a range of amenities, mostly tailored toward leisure travellers rather than those who are in town on business.
The Historic Shaunavon Hotel's was built in 1913. As its name suggests, the hotel has a long and interesting history--it played host to the Canadian 209th battalion during the First World War. It has also hosted the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and Praire Farm Rehabilitation Association, as well as conventions for optometrists and conservation officers. The hotel was granted municipal heritage designation in both 1999 and 2003, adding the title "Historic" to its name.

The King's Hotel was constructed in 1928 and is one of the bigger accommodations in Shaunavon, employing eight members of staff. The motto of the King's Hotel is: "Good food, clean rooms," which indicates the hospitality you hope to experience during your stay. The King's Hotel has 31 guestrooms alongside an on-site cafe. The tourist attraction, Vanrhyn Farm, is about a five-minute walk from the hotel, offering visitors the chance to attend one of their annual events, such as the Sheepdog Classic.
