Minnesota Campgrounds With Cabins

Minnesota camping may not be the first choice for people who dislike the dark side of camping--cold, hard surfaces and bugs. However, campgrounds with cabins solve the problem of mixed groups where some have a RV, some enjoy tents and others prefer a real roof over their heads. In Minnesota, you can find a wide range of camping and cabin venues--these include fishing-centric resorts, kid-friendly vacation resorts and even RV parks that serve as your base for visiting major cities.

  1. Cabin O'Pines

    • Cabin O'Pines is a fishing resort with both a summer RV park and rental cabins. The resort is on the shores of Pelican Lake in Orr, Minnesota. The 12,000 acre lake offers bass, walleye and other kinds of fishing. The resort provides a boat launch ramp and fish cleaning facilities--you may even store your catches in their freezer. The campground includes 21 sites, some of which are lakeside and others which have a lake view. Your space comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Amenities here include a horseshoe pit, dump station, sauna, playground, laundry room and shower block. A store sells groceries and gas, while kids might enjoy the recreation room. The resort offers 13 cabins, equipped with a kitchen and dining area, plus varying numbers of bedrooms. The largest is a three-bedroom cottage.

    Camp Holiday

    • Camp Holiday is a kid-friendly vacation resort that offers 13 cabins. It's beside the 100-acre Turtle Lake in the Mille Lacs area. Most cabins have one to three bedrooms, but the largest provides seven. Cabins come with a barbecue grill, fire pit, picnic table, satellite TV and even a row boat. The campground provides 40 sites, six of which are lakeside. They vary between full hookup sites, partial hookups and tent sites. Onsite you'll find a shower block, laundry room and dump station. The store sells supplies, including bait and fishing gear. At this resort, you may rent your own boat, kayak or other vessels. Fishing is a popular activity here, so the resort offers a fish cleaning station and freezer service. Kids might enjoy the beach and roped-off swimming area, plus the horseshoes pit, playground and water slide. You'll also find a volleyball and basketball court here.
