Goulding's Lodge offers visitors a full-service hotel, as well as a campground and RV park. Goulding's also provides guided tours of the plateau, for a fee, to explore the sandstone formations that make up Monument Valley. If you have a car and don't mind getting it dusted with the red earth of the desert, you can drive free-of-charge on unpaved roads on the valley floor. The campground includes cabins and a gift shop.
For a close up view of Monument Valley visitors should consider The View Hotel. A Navajo-owned property located in the Navajo Tribal Park, all of the hotel's 95 rooms offer views of the plateau and its sandstone formations. From your room you can walk out to see the colorful glow on the "monuments" as the sun rises or sets. The property features Native American decor, including a locally woven Navajo Rug and traditional Navajo dye chart.
Along a secluded road west of the Navajo Tribal Park is the FireTree Bed & Breakfast. The isolated property includes a relaxing common room where visitors can meet other guests and admire the panoramic views of the valley and surrounding cliffs. Guests at the FireTree stay in traditional Navajo hogans built from juniper and ponderosa logs. Each hogan has the modern conveniences of a hotel room, central skylights and stone floors or traditional earth-packed floors.
