The Goulding's Lodge is the most modern hotel in Oljato. It features access to wireless Internet services, with televisions and DVD players. If your idea of roughing it involves a hotel room without cable television, this will be the best option for you. Each room has its own bathroom, which in Oljato is unique. For the nicotine addicted, this is the only hotel with both smoking and nonsmoking rooms. The balconies overlook the Monument Valley and rooms on both sides of the hotel enjoy an impressively unobstructed view of the sunrise and sunset. There are numerous tours, both hiking and in-vehicle tours. The hiking tours are not for the average person as they are quite long and you must be prepared to carry your own water for the three-and-a-half-hour hike. In this area, water is a precious resource, as such, the Gouldings Lodge is the only hotel with a pool.
The View Hotel is owned by Armanda Ortega, a Navajo native. The hotel is located in the Navajo Tribal Park in Monument Valley. The modern amenities offered include wireless Internet, a fitness center and in-room restrooms and refrigerators. There is a restaurant on-site, otherwise, the closest one is several miles from the hotel. Both tobacco and alcohol products are not allowed in the hotel as a result of the dry-nation rules of the Navajo Nation.
Goulding's Lodge offers the only camping area in Oljato, Utah. You can choose to stay in a small cabin, or pull up in your recreational vehicle and plug in to the campground amenities like cable television, free wireless Internet and electrical connections. The campground offers shuttle service to the guided tours in the area. Each cabin sleeps four and comes complete with heating and air conditioning, a kitchen and bathroom and a front porch with a convenient picnic table. There is also an on-site convenience store where you can purchase groceries or fuel.
The Firetree Bed and Breakfast offers a unique lodging experience. Guests are housed in mound-shaped huts made of juniper and ponderosa logs called Hogans. The hogan is a rounded structure with packed dirt floors and an open air skylight on the roof. There is a common bathroom facility that is shared by all the guests located in the center of the compound. The common room is where the guests gather for meals or meetings. The meals are very basic with a breakfast of toast, orange juice and coffee cake. The closest restaurant is six miles from the Fire Tree Inn and that is the one at Gouldings Lodge. The approach to the Fire Side Inn is a rough road that is often obscured by sand in storms and the management warns guests not to follow their GPS instructions.
