River Valley is a small town surrounded by hundreds of miles of wilderness area about 10 miles northwest of West Nipissing, Ontario just north of Lake Nipissing near Toronto. The area offers a plethora of outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, mountain biking, snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Lakes near River Valley are teeming with over 144 different varieties of native fish.
Originally called Burnam's Camp when it opened in the 1940s, Larocques Blue Demon Lodge is a family-owned lodge located on Manitou Lake about 40 miles north of River Valley. The lodge consists of three cabins that can accommodate from one to 12 guests. Each cabin comes furnished with bedding, pillows, refrigerator, stove, kitchen utensils, dishes, cookware and a fire pit. While the cabins have only cold running water, there is a central washroom with flush toilets and showers. Pets are welcome.
Located in River Valley, Manitou Lake Lodge is owned by Michael Allen and Mike Savage. The lodge offers cabins that can accommodate four to eight people and include propane heat, running water and fully-equipped kitchens with a dining room table. Pillows and linen are available upon request. Some cabins offer bathrooms but a central washroom with showers is also available. Cabins can be rented on a per person per night or weekly basis.
This four-diamond/five-star lodge located in River Valley boasts luxury chalets complete with Austrian duvets, terry robes, lace curtains and fresh flowers, and evening turn-down service. Each chalet features a bedroom, living room, full bathroom, television and refrigerator. The lodge's European chef creates four and six course gourmet dinners for guests. Accessible by car or helicopter, the lodge is located 275 miles north of Toronto on the edge of Lake Obabika. The main lodge invites guests to enjoy the lounge with its fully stocked bar while the nearby dock house boasts an exercise room, sauna, jacuzzi, billiards and big screen television.
