Bancroft, Ontario Resorts

Bancroft, ON is a small town located in eastern Ontario, 130 miles west of Ottawa, ON. Bancroft is close to the Algonquin and Kawartha Highlands provincial parks and numerous lakes and rivers. Resorts in the Bancroft area usually take advantage of this water access and offer activities such as canoeing, swimming and fishing.

    • Lakeview Lodge sits on the shores of Baptiste Lake, just outside of Bancroft, ON. The lodge is open year-round and features one-bedroom cottages with satellite televisions, full kitchens, including microwave ovens and barbecues. Snowmobiling is available in the winter and boating and fishing are available in the summer, with complimentary use of canoes, kayaks and paddle boats. The lodge provides 14-foot aluminum fishing boats for rent. The lake is shallow near the shore and deepens gradually, so it is suitable for young children. As of 2010, one-week cottage rentals start at CA$650.

    Birch Cliff Lodge

    • Birch Cliff Lodge is located on Baptiste Lake, five miles from the village of Bancroft, ON. Birch Cliff Lodge offers cottages that are equipped with full kitchens, four-piece bathrooms and open decks or screened-in porches. Cottages have between two and six bedrooms and can accommodate between four and 14 people. There are staff organized activities in the summer, including a weekly Monte Carlo night. There is also a children's program director on staff. The lodge also has volleyball and badminton courts, a horseshoe pit, a Ping-Pong table, canoes and rental motorboats. As of 2010, weekly rates start at CA$915.

    Algonquin Eco-Lodge

    • The Algonquin Eco-Lodge is a wilderness resort located in the southeastern edge of Algonquin Park, about 25 miles north of Bancroft, ON. The lodge has access to over 20 miles of hiking trails in the park and seasonal activities include cross-country skiing, canoeing, dog-sledding, hiking and mountain biking. The lodge is quite secluded, and is a one-mile walk, ski or cycle from the nearest parking lot. The lodge has 17 rooms which can each accommodate up to two people. The lodge produces its own electricity with a nearby waterfall. As of 2010, room rates start at CA$95 per night, which includes all meals and use of the lodge's canoes and rowboats.
