There are cabins scattered all throughout Montana, some of which are grouped together and associated with hotels and lodges. Others, however, stand on their own and provide a very solitary retreat.
Montana is a part of two national parks, Yellowstone National Park on the southern tip of the state, and Glacier National Park in the northwest. There are multiple areas surrounding each park that offer cabin rentals.
The western portion of the state is popular for those who want to spend some time in the Rocky Mountains. The Bitterroot National Forest, straddling the borders of western Montana and northeast Idaho, and Paradise Valley, in southwestern Montana, are also popular destinations with high country cabins.
