Cabins in Amicalola Falls, GA

The Cherokee christened the 729-foot waterfall Amicalola, or tumbling water, that is the namesake of the state park in northern Georgia, at the southern end of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Located in the midst of the Chattahoochee National Forest, the park is just 8 miles, using the Southern Terminus Trail, to Springer Mountain and the Appalachian Trail. The Amicalola watershed travels south, eventually draining into the Etowah River. The rolling forestland is mostly hardwoods, making for a beautiful display of color in the fall. The park has a large modern lodge, as well as a visitor's center. Dawsonville, 10 miles to the south, is often used as a basecamp for visitors to the falls and nearby Lake Lanier, a reservoir that provides drinking water for the city of Atlanta.
