You'll find the Chipman Inn in Ripton, 30 minutes south of New Haven. Rates at this inn include a cooked breakfast. There are no restaurants in Ripton, but if you drive three miles west towards Middlebury, you'll find diners and delis on the edge of town, and the innkeepers can make recommendations. The small inn offers eight rooms furnished with antiques, and all but the single suite are air-conditioned. Several shared rooms, including a lounge with private bar, TV room and reading room, stand at your disposal. If you're allergic to cats, this is probably not your place, since the motel cat is known to share your sofa. The rural setting of Chipman Inn puts you close to walking trails and Green Mountain National Forest.
