Ski Resorts near Portland, Oregon

Portland, the largest city in Oregon, is located in the Southeastern part of the state. It is a bustling business and cultural center with a moderate climate. Summers are warm and mostly sunny and winters are mild with very little snow. When Portland area skiers want to hit the slopes, they visit nearby Mount Hood.



Mount Hood is located 50 miles southeast of Portland. At more than 11,000 feet, it is the highest peak in Oregon.

      The Timberline Ski area has beginner, intermediate and advanced ski areas, and is the only ski area in North America to offer year-round skiing. Summer ski and snowboard camps are available and the resort hosts the oldest ski race in America every June--the Golden Rose Ski Classic.

    Mount Hood Meadows

      Mount Hood Meadows is one of the largest ski resorts in the state. There is no lodging available at the resort but it offers discounted lift tickets to guests staying at nearby hotels. Mount Hood is the site of the annual Mount Hood Film Festival held every year in March.

    Ski Bowl

      Ski Bowl is the closest recreational ski area to Portland and is the location of Mount Hood Adventure Park. The Adventure Park has more than 20 family-friendly activities including an Alpine slide, rock climbing wall, guided horseback rides and mini golf.

    Cooper Spur

    • Cooper Spur is located in the Mount Hood National Forest.

      This resort and mountain lodge is located 12 miles from Mount Hood Meadows Ski Resort and offers a variety of accommodations, including cabins, condos, log homes or rooms in the lodge. Activities such as golf, rafting, hiking and cycling are available nearby.
