Mad River Mountain opened in 1962 and is located approximately 130 miles from Columbus. The annual average snowfall is 36 inches, and the resort offers 23 trails and three terrain parks for skiers and snowboarders. Two lodges on site provide restroom and dining facilities, and lessons and rentals are offered through its pro shop. The resort has eight acres of beginner areas, and the resort features a Kid Zone learning program for children from 4 to 12 years old. Cabins are available at Fox Island State Park, Hocking Hill Cabins and Briarwood Sporting Club.

Boston Mills Brandywine offers 85 acres of terrain, 17 trails and programs for beginners. Food-service operations are available throughout the resorts, and equipment can be rented or purchased through their ski shops. Lessons are offered every hour, and kids and women’s programs are offered for skiing and snowboarding. Both resorts are within close proximity to Akron and Cleveland.
